Orthopedics & Athletic Medicine Club
our history, impacting the future

our story

the orthopedics & athletic medicine club (oam) was started by university of south florida student, kyden payne in april of 2021. kyden was looking for a way to increase collaboration between all pre-health students regardless of track, connected by similar interest in sports medicine and the vast world of medical orthopedics. the mission was to create an on-campus organization that educated, inspired and encouraged, rooted deeply in values such as community service, teamwork & academic growth that had never been seen before at an undergraduate level to help foster an environment where future medical professionals can grow together and understand that there is no room for superiority complexes in the field,
Within the first few months of becoming established, the pioneering oam team had already connected with several local medical professionals to deliver important career-related seminars, partnered with a global philanthropic organization (special olympics), and amassed over 100 members at the usf chapter alone.
the sky is the limit for oam as expansion continues throughout major public universities in florida and beyond, helping to educate, inspire and encourage new generations of pre-health students interested in the world of orthopedics & athletic medicine.
